Promises, PromisesYou said you would come,
so why aren't you here?
You walked out of my life,
you disappeared.

I have so much to tell you
since I saw you last.
Don't you want to hear
all about my new class?

How I'm making new friends,
how I'm learning new things?
How everyone jumps up
when the dismissal bell rings?

I'm waiting here still,
staring out the window
of the room where we once sat
and spent the day watching videos.

My Sesame Street doll
sits at my side.
It's the one you gave me,
once upon a time.

My old blue blanket
sits around my shoulders
as I remember us playing,
until we got older.

The sun has long set
upon the great times
of sledding and
Breaking ApartLets pretend that I'm
not so happy after all.
That all the wall's around
me are beginning to fall.

What would you say?

Would we fake our grins
and laugh at the flaws,
or close our eyes and
let the tears fall?

Let me hold you close,
remind you that I love
you the most, extend my
hands and slide to the ground,
where we try not to make a sound.

I love this world that
we live in,
We wear fake skins just
to fit in.

Maybe some day we won't
all just pretend,
realize that everything is
only false pretensions,

Fall asleep, and never wake
again.
BotherIt's not a game.
She's gone away,
and no one even bothered to say,

"Will you ever return?"
When will they learn?
But no one bothered to say it to her.

I left on that day,
I went my own way,
but no one even bothered to say,

"I really love you."
I don't think it's true,
but I'd still say "I love you, too."

We all wonder why
she left us dry,
but we still didn't bother to say goodbye.

And neither did she,
not even to me.
At the very least, now, she's finally free.

I left them alone,
how can I atone?
Would I have stayed there, had I then known?

I can certainly tell
that all of us fell
when I didn't even bother to bid them farewell.
Seasonal Haikus: SummerWatermelon juice
splattered all over my face,
rinds thrown in the woods.

Flip-flops and gym shorts,
pushed in the cold pool water,
yet it feels so good.

Hot, dry grass crackles
under weight held by bare feet
running aimlessly.

Hot, humid wind blows.
It moves my loose, tangled hair
as I sit and watch.

I find myself soon
catching pinching crayfish in
the cool creek's water.

The bright day darkens,
but not before the orange,
the pink, purple, red.

This is paradise.
The cicadas start to chirp.
"Let's go for ice cream!"

Radio blasting,
through the winding roads we drive,
windows rolling down.

Blankets thrown away,
drifting into a light sle
It's that wonderful day.People are confessing, some already dating
Hearing so much “I love you”, it’s driving someone crazy
So let’s exchange hatred with love and just get along
And celebrate the day by listening to a corny song

Singles shouldn’t cry or start weeping inside
Just wait for the one, even if it takes a long time
Couples show your love, but explicitly has always been grime
Nimble kisses and a hug, anything else will be when you reside

Just remember to show care to the one who’s fair
It’s Valentine’s Day after all, and I’m sure you’re aware

As if answering the girl's solemnly spoken words, the summer wind blew across the empty roof in an almost excited fashion. It blew her nightgown against her legs as she turned to face it. The night was lit brightly by the shining buildings and streetlights, but all of them seemed dim to her.

"Why?" an angry voice cried out behind her, and even though she knew he was going to react this way, she couldn't help but flinch.

"You know why," she replied, her tone eerily calm. It was at that moment that she felt a hand grip her bare arm roughly. She began to wonder whether he knew how much he hurt her, if he knew tha
Puzzle PiecesI don't want to be
a puzzle piece
that just fits right inside.

I don't want to be
a difficult piece
you make fit by pounding on.

What I want to be
is that one piece
that everyone misplaces.

That lone piece that's lost
under the couch
or between the cushions.

That strange piece that
everyone hates when lost,
but adores when found.

That simple piece that
everyone wants
and everyone searches for.

That perfect piece that,
when found,
completes the puzzle perfectly.

That independent piece that
can easily fit,
but doesn't want or need to.

That free piece that
will appear to you
only when it's fully ready.

That one piece that

She is alone, gazing at her laptop screen.
She is supposed to be working; she has
Assignments to complete.
She doesn't have time to goof off.
Two midterms, and an essay, for God's sake,
Yet her mind wanders.

She is alone, waiting for the magic to happen.
Mother is speaking--something about
Reality and not wasting time.
"You are only a teenager for so long,
And you must grow faster, because these are
Difficult times, and you are a woman."

She is alone, and laughing silently.
She'd dare not laugh aloud--that would be
Disrespectful, and would raise awkward questions,
But Mother knows anyway, because Mother
Knows when her daughter's min

My heart drops straight down,
my stomach goes cold.
My brain is still processing
what I've just been told.

Worst case scenarios
run through my head,
What if you're hurt--
Or what if you're dead?

I call your cell phone
at least five times,
I can't deal with this!
And dead goes the line.

I pace the floor faster,
I walk all around.
Tears fall from my eyes.
And I drop to the ground.

I can't deal with this..
Just pick up the phone!
I try one more time,
and you answer, "Hello?"

My grief turns to joy,
then right into anger.
"I was worried, you idiot!
Why wouldn't you answer?!"

What a Shame"Love is out there somewhere for you. It will come in due time."

"Yes, I know," I respond with a frown and a roll of my eyes.

"No, you don't," the voice replies, an edge to its sound that was hidden well before. I flinch, although I am too used to that edge by now.

"Yes, I do. I've heard it all before. 'Love is out there waiting,' and 'There are plenty of fish in the sea.' I know, okay? I know, but that doesn't mean I care."

I hear the long-suffering sigh that I've become so accustomed to, and before the sigh turns into another speech, I speak again:

"I'm impatient and I'm impulsive. I want him. He's all I'll ever want," I say, though I
A Poetic MessThere's nothing to do.
How about writing haiku?
Poetry is fun.

It's so tiresome, though...
Five, seven, five syllables?
Why those three numbers?

I don't like haiku anymore,
so how about ABCB?
That's a good rhythm, I suppose,
it's easy to write and read.

ABCB gets old so quick,
ABAB is more my style.
I think these rhymes are making me sick,
but, I'll still rhyme for a while.

What rhythm to use?
Oh, perfect, look what I've done.
I'm back to haiku.

Poetry just isn't my thing,
I can't decide what rhythm to stick to.
What's wrong with me? What should I do?
ABBB? Well, I guess that's new...

Screw these stupid rhymes,
I'm doing free verse.

IllusionaryI'll caress you softly,
like gentle rain drops
always wanting more,
a little is never enough.

Close your eyes, I will
make your fears disappear.
Come with me, I'll make
the signs change forever.

The night will slowly
show itself when you least
expect it.
Come on now, don't be
afraid to taste it.

Follow me inside, no
one can hear your
screams.
You haven't lost your
mind,
this is only just a

The Poem Without A TitleI fear writing these lines lost in love,
Have become a force of unbridled habit.
If I think of a word echoing wisdom or worth,
Like a child trapped in a dream of delight,
I reach out with a humane hand and then I grab it.

I fear speaking these rhymes risk my rage,
Will become a power of unfurled wonder.
If I think of a label silencing lethargy or loathing,
Like a man caged in a nightmare of night,
I look up with a elusive eye to see a simple star.

I fear reading these symbols stop my soul,
Shall become a vehicle of undaunted hesitation.
If I think of a theme waking trust or toil,
Like an elder imprisoned in a sanctum of sight,
I
Standing in the backgroundI fade away,

So others can shine.

I follow,

So others can lead.

I break my own heart,

So others will be complete.

I cry,

Because others will smile.

I stay up all night,

So others can sleep.

When you go to play,

I’ll be a toy

So you will have someone to play with.

I’ll be walking in the background.

When you read the book,

I'll be a random character.

When you look at me,

You know my name.

For once,

Even if just for a day,

Or an hour,

Or a second,

I would like to stand in the front.

I want to be seen by others.

To see people know my name,

Instead of standing in the background.
200 Plastic StrawsTwo-hundred plastic straws
are scattered on my floor.
They haven't moved an inch
from where I dropped them there before.

A multi-colored frenzy
is dancing on my tiles.
Ghosts long past
come flying back
to stay there for a while.

The straws slipped through my fingers
and so, they all tapped down
like the movement of a second hand,
eternity, an hour.

They fell away, as does the past,
so pick up every piece.
Throw it away or use it well,
or its dance will never cease.

Two hundred plastic straws,
or at least, that's how it was.
Now a hundred ninety-nine lay there,
a pink one in my glass.

It seems I think that quite a lot.

It's like I only have bad luck.

Unfortunately this kind of reminds me of how I feel compared to my best friend :/ it's amazing how much I can relate to it.

Yeah, sometimes I feel like my best friend is that perfect xD
However, no one can achieve complete perfection so I try to keep that in mind :thumbsup: all about trying your best to survive in the world xD

I've been spending some time going through your writing and it is all so lovely! :) You have a wonderful way of capturing moments that everyone has been through at one point or another. I've loved several of your pieces.

This one in particular, I know everyone has had this debate with themselves before. The person you admire just seems so perfect in comparison. I've definitely been there. :XD: But, don't ever tell yourself that you aren't good enough for the person. That isn't your decision to make! ;) I say this from experience. Years ago I had one of my good friends tell a boy that I liked him. He was in complete shock and replied back, "But she's so much smarter than me. She's too good for me. She could do much better than me." I, however, thought he was absolutely perfect. (I actually didn't think I was good enough for him to be honest :XD: ) To me he was amazing, even though he thought he had many "flaws". :) Don't get discouraged. The person you admire might just think you're completely awesome. ;)

Wow, really? That helps me a lot.. Thank you so much! :) Sometimes I really think he IS perfect... My friend and I joke about it all the time, haha. Nobody's perfect, but I can't seem to find any of his flaws :XD: I hope you're right! :heart:

Yes,I was rather shocked when I heard the boy's response from my friend. :XD: I was considered one of the smart/nerd kind of girls and he was a pretty popular guy. So in my mind I didn't think I could ever be good enough for him. And I guess the feelings were mutual at that point. :giggle: I'm glad to help you though! :)

Haha, even if he does seem perfect everyone has "flaws" or insecurities. I think most of the time people don't ever notice the flaws because it's something they love about the person. :) I'm sure that once you get to know this boy he'll see how awesome you are. Then HE might end up being the one who can barely speak to YOU! :giggle:

Well, nothing really happened between us. We both were just stuck in limbo at that point thinking we weren't good enough for each other. :XD: We did become friends, but the entire story between us is very awkward and insane basically. :lol: The moral of the whole story though was not to believe you can't be good enough for someone. Because it really is possible that the other person will say differently! :)

Do keep trying to talk to him! :aww: I'm sure he'll feel the same way about you once you get to know each other! :D
